Overview

Upper Dolpo (Dolpa) of the  Dopa district of Western Nepal is  a remote part of Nepal full up of reminiscences of the wilderness. Bordered by Tibet in the north, this region correlates with Tibet in terms of culture and lifestyle.

You get to dig out the amazing textures of waterfalls and beautiful lakes abounding the entire region. Situated at an altitude of 3,611.5 metres, the fresh water of the Shey Phuksundo lake is flamboyant.

 The region is also notorious for the spread of tibetian Buddhism.For instance, Kang La (5,240m) pass ,  Shey Gompa (4280m.), Lnag La (5002m ),  Sime Gaon (3950m.) & Yak Kharka (4780m ) are the attractions, you wouldn’t want to miss.The camping trek is suitable for you if you want to spend your walking holiday in the hidden part of the world which makes you feel that you are from anotherworld. 

The trail begins from juphal and cocludes   at Jomsom . This is also one of the reason for  most of trekkers to call it “Dolpo to Jomsom trek”. From jomsom we will fly down to Pokhara and drive to Kathmandu. Upper Dolpo trek 2022 will be a lifetime experience walking holidays for you.

Trip Itinerary

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Take the opportunity to rest and recover from your journey, and later, meet your trekking guide for a briefing on the upcoming adventure.
Explore the cultural and historical wonders of Kathmandu in the morning. In the afternoon, fly to Nepalgunj, a bustling city in the western Terai region. Prepare for the trek ahead and enjoy a relaxing evening.
Explore on a scenic flight to Jhupal, where your trek begins. The first day's trek leads you through picturesque landscapes to Chepkpa, situated at an altitude of 2,838 meters.
Continue your trek, immersing yourself in the beauty of the Dolpo region. Reach Chepkpa after a 4-hour trek, experiencing the unique culture and landscapes.
Today's journey takes you to Samduwa village, a charming settlement at an elevation of 2,960 meters. Enjoy the diverse scenery and the warmth of the local hospitality.
Elevation at Phoksundo Lake: 3,612m After watching the breathtaking Phoksundo , we will catch the trails of Pungmo rivers along with the pine forests that follow. The sunlit valley along with the beautiful toll of waterfalls will keep you hookes. The trail descends at Ringmo at the end of Phoksundo lake..
Take a well-deserved rest day at Phoksundo Lake. Explore the local area, visit nearby monasteries, or simply relax by the tranquil lake.

Resume your trek as you make your way to Phoksundo-Khola, surrounded by stunning landscapes. Enjoy the tranquility of the region.

Ascend to Phoksundo Bhanjyang at an elevation of 4,717 meters. Marvel at the panoramic views and unique terrain.

A strenuous climb will lead is to Kangla Pass. The top of Kangla pass harbours beautiful views of the valley.On our way to Shey Gompa , we will walk through the pasture where we will see a lot of yaks sheep and mountain goats.
Take a day to explore Shey Gompa and the surrounding area. Visit the Crystal Monastery, immerse yourself in the local culture, and enjoy the serene atmosphere.
Explore on a challenging trek, crossing the Sela (Gela) La pass at an elevation of 5,094 meters. Reach Nam-Gaon and soak in the unique landscapes.

Descend to the village of Saldang, situated at an altitude of 3,770 meters. Experience the traditional lifestyle of the inhabitants and enjoy the cultural richness.

Continue your journey to Cha-Gaon, nestled at 4,910 meters. The trek offers panoramic views and a chance to connect with the local culture.

Trek to Dachu Khola and set up camp at an elevation of 4,700 meters. Enjoy the wilderness and the beauty of the surroundings.

Challenge yourself with a trek to cross Jyanta-La at 5,220 meters. Descend to Phedi at 4,900 meters, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.

Resume your trek, heading towards Tokyu Gaon at an elevation of 4,209 meters. Experience the unique blend of nature and culture in this remote region.

Trek to Dho-Tarap, situated at 3,944 meters. Immerse yourself in the local traditions and enjoy the hospitality of the inhabitants.
Continue your trek to Gyagar, experiencing the changing landscapes and the cultural diversity of the Dolpo region.

Trek to Tarap Khola, passing through Chyugar at an altitude of 3,440 meters. Enjoy the unique scenery and the remote charm of the area.

Head to Tarakot, located at 2,540 meters. The trek provides stunning views and a chance to reflect on the incredible journey.

Conclude your trek with a descent to Dunai, followed by a scenic drive to Jhupal. Celebrate the successful completion of the trek.

Fly back to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj and transfer to your hotel. Take some time to relax and reflect on the memorable adventure.
