Arrival in Kathmandu

Day 1

Our representative waiting in the airport for your arrival shall take you to your hotel. After spending a brief amount of time for rest, you can set off to explore the city. We shall enjoy dinner together at a popular restaurant in the town, tasting typical Nepalese dishes. These introductory tastes give you what to expect throughout your stay in Nepal in lunch and dinner. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Day 2

Kathmandu is a living tapestry of historical, architectural, and religious places. Some important sites you shall pay a visit to are Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Basantapur Durbar Square, and the Pashupatinath Temple . These are some of the World Heritage Sites enlisted by UNESCO. If you have missed any gear, you can purchase it today. Late in the afternoon, we shall talk about our plan, preparation, and requirements. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Flight to Lukla/ Trek to Phakding

Day 3

A brief 30 minutes flight to Lukla will lend you all the beautiful views of mountains illuminating from the hills. From Lukla, your trek begins, initially, the trail descends downhill offering the view of Mt. Khumbil; the virgin mountain until you reach Cheplunng. The trail further descends down to Phakding. Mt. Khumbila is full up of its own religious significance. Thus it prohibits any kind of climbing. Stay overnight at Phakding.

Phakding to Namche Bazar

Day 4

The trail leads through the forest and arrives at Dudh Koshi River. Once you cross the river, you will walk past the village of Chumoa and Monjo, and enter the Sagarmatha National Park. As you move past another river that heeds your way, you reach the Jorsale Village. The trail is then accompanied by Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi Rivers running alongside. A steep climb takes you to Namche Bazar; the Gateway to Everest. Depending upon the weather, Namche Bazar offers views of Mt. Everest and Lhotse. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar

At Namche Bazar

Day 5

Namche Bazar is a popular hub full up of busy with its shops, restaurants, government offices, ATMs, and market. You can explore the Sagarmatha National Park, and also pick a glance at the mountains like Mt. Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Thamserku, Nuptse, Kongde, and Everest. You can also visit a Sherpa village— the Khumjung Village. There is the Hillary School, and you shall find several reasons to explore. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.

Namche Bazar to Phortse Thanga

Day 6

An ascent to the Khumjung Hill and a brief descent towards the trail leads to the Dudh Koshi River. Since there are two routes leading to Phortse Thanga from there, the guide shall choose the best one given the circumstance. You shall pay a visit to Mohan Village that holds religious importance, and descend downhill to Dudh Koshi River, and you shall arrive at Phortse Thanga. Stay overnight at Phortse Thanga.

Phortse Thanga to Machhermo

Day 7

The trail ascends uphill to Machhermo from Phortse Thanga. Before the trail takes you to Tongba Village, you shall pass by rhododendron forest and a beautiful waterfall. Further uphill takes you to Dhole village. The trail further goes through Labarma Village and Luza Village. Passing these villages, the trail takes you to Machermo. Stay overnight at Machhermo.

Machhermo to Gokyo

Day 8

Over a ridge, passing Phangkha, you shall descend down to the riverbank. Then comes uphill through glacial moraine and the steep trail. As you cross an iron bridge, you will reach the first lake of Gokyo; Longpongo. A stone here contains footprints of Lama. Further brings you the second; Taboche Tsho. The blue water in these lakes is tempting. Further ahead comes the Dudh Pokhari. It marks the Gokyo Valley. Stay overnight at Gokyo.

At Gokyo

Day 9

You can climb uphill to Gokyo Ri (5,357m), witnessing the views of Mt. Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Everest— the four high peaks out of seven situated in Nepal. You can visit the fourth lakeThonak Tsho, and the fifth lake, Ngozumba Tsho, depending upon how much time you have and how physically fit you look. Ngozumba Glacier from here looks really great. Stay overnight at Gokyo.

Gokyo to Thangnak

Day 10

It doesn’t matter if you climbed Gokyo Ri the other day, you shall ascend to the peak today. The trail uphill is quite strenuous and takes about 3-4 hours to reach the top of the peak. Your efforts will all be rewarded by the magnificent views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Cholatse, Kangtega, Thamserku, Kanguru, Lhotse, Pumori, and Changtse. Along the meander, you shall descend down to Thangnak. Stay overnight at Thangnak.

Thagnak to Dzongla via Cho La Pass

Day 11

The steep trail over moraine and glacier traverse can make the ascent to the top of Cho La Pass quite strenuous and challenging. Early in the morning, you shall head off to the top of Cho La Pass. Depending upon the season you are traveling, just before you reach the top, you might have to go through the icy section. The top offers something more than memorable. After spending a while here, you shall descend downhill through crevasses. Stay overnight at Dzongla.

Dzongla to Lobuche

Day 12

The trail descends down through a grassy route to a riverbed. After a brief trek; you shall arrive at Lobuche from Dzongla in 2-3 hours. The Lobuche Mountain shall keep you company throughout the trek. Once you reach Lobuche, you can rest for a while, explore the village, and prepare for the trek of the following day. The memories you made at the place shall stick with you forever. Stay overnight at Lobuche.

Lobuche to Gorakshep and Everest Base Camp

Day 13

The journey can be a quite strenuous pass you make thorough rocky dunes, streams, and moraine to Everest Base Camp. Once you reach the camp, you can watch the beautiful unfoldings of mountains like Nuptse, Pumori, and Nuptse. You shall fancy some lifetime shots; take your cameras out. After spending a while in the base camp, you shall descend down to Gorakshep as the afternoon fades away. Make sure you sleep tight given that you shall climb uphill to Kalapatthar the next day. Stay overnight at Gorakshep.

Gorakshep to Kalapatthar and Pheriche

Day 14

Early in the morning, you shall scramble uphill to Kalapatthar through the steep trail with boulders and moraines. The top offers magnificent views of Mt. Everest, and other mountains, all glowing gold in the early sun. After spending a while here, you shall descend downhill to Gorakshep, and then towards Pheriche through forest and passing waterfall. Stay overnight at Pheriche.

Pheriche to Namche Bazar

Day 15

The trail descends downhill alongside the forest full of juniper and rhododendrons and finally ends at Dudh Koshi River. Following the river gorge, the trail further descends downhill through forests of pine. If you are fortunate, you might come across mountain goats and pheasants. As you witness all the beautiful views of Mt. Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and Nuptse, you shall reach Namche Bazar. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.

Namche Bazar to Lukla

Day 16

The trail follows the rocky terrain. The trail comes easy once you cross Dudh Koshi River. Past Phakding, you shall ascend to Lukla. After you rest for a while, you can explore Lukla. It might take about 6 hours to reach Lukla from Namche Bazar. The next day you shall return back to Kathmandu. Stay overnight at Lukla.

Flight to Kathmandu

Day 17

Kathmandu is about thirty minutes from Lukla. Our representative shall take you to your hotel. After you rest for a while, you can come out for a leisurely stroll. If you want to take something to your home back, you can do some shopping today. We shall share our trekking experience over dinner in a restaurant, enjoying Nepalese dishes. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.


Day 18

Our representative shall take you to the airport on a proper schedule. Have a safe journey back home. For more trekking in Nepal, do remember us; we shall be more than happy to introduce you to new destinations.


Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lake and Cho La Pass is an awe aspiring trek through the beautiful moraines, boulders, and crevasses. It then proceeds to the ascent and descent to Gokyo Ri, Cho La Pass, and Kalapatthar. Making it to the top of Cho La Pass can really be challenging, and you might have to make it through the icy sections depending upon the weather.
