Overview

Langtang region in Nepal to the ranges from the north of Kathmandu and bordering Tibet. It is a protected region namely Langtang National Park. The region imbibes numerous peaks including Langtang Lirung (7246m). As of 2012, the entrance ticket to the park is 3000 Nepali Rupees which you must buy at the park entrance. TIMS are also available Passport photos should be brought  for foreigners.

About 4,500 people live inside the park, and many more rely on it for timber and firewood. The majority of the residents are Tamangs.

The park contains a range of climatic zones, from subtropical to alpine. Approximately 25% of the park is forested. Trees include the deciduous Oak and Maple, and evergreens like Pine, including various types of Rhododendron. There are animals like Himalayan black bear, the goat-like Himalayan tahr, Rhesus monkeys and Red Pandas. The region is also forged with the stories of Yeti sightings.

Kyanjin Gompa

The park contains the Gosainkunda lakes, sacred to Hindus. Pilgrimages come visit this hallowed spot in August. Another spiritually important site is the Buddhist monastery Kyanjin Gompa.

Popular activities for tourists in the park include trekking, climbing, and white-water rafting.

Please note: Tight fitting, figure-hugging clothing, such as those made with Lycra can often be offensive to locals, especially to women. If you find these items comfortable as a base layer, please pack something to wear on top of them.

Trip Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After checking in and refreshing, you have the rest of the day to relax or explore the vibrant streets of Kathmandu. The bustling capital city is a mix of ancient history and modern energy, offering a preview of the diverse culture and architecture you'll encounter during your Langtang Gosainkunda Trek.

Today is dedicated to exploring the cultural and historical heritage of Kathmandu. You will visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. These sites showcase the rich religious and architectural heritage of Nepal, providing a fascinating insight into the country's history and traditions.

The Langtang Gosainkunda Trek, you leave Kathmandu and drive north towards Syabrubesi. The journey takes you through scenic landscapes, passing Dhunche town at 1,950 meters. Upon reaching Syabrubesi (1,470 meters), a picturesque village on the banks of the Bhote Koshi River, you'll settle in for the night, ready to commence your trek the next day.

Your trek officially begins today as you leave Syabrubesi and follow the Langtang Khola. The trail takes you through lush forests and quaint villages, leading you to Lama Hotel (2,350 meters). The serene atmosphere and the sound of the river make for a peaceful evening as you rest and prepare for the upcoming days of trekking.

Continuing your journey through the Langtang Valley, you trek towards Langtang village at an altitude of 3,310 meters. The village, devastated by the earthquake in 2015, has been gradually rebuilding, and your visit contributes to the local economy. The day's trek provides stunning views of the Langtang Lirung and other snow-capped peaks.

Today's trek takes you to Kyanjin Gompa, a significant Buddhist monastery nestled in the heart of the Langtang region. The trail offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, and you'll have the afternoon to explore the monastery and the nearby yak pastures. This shorter trekking day allows for acclimatization in preparation for higher altitudes.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable trek, a rest day is scheduled for acclimatization. You can explore Kyanjin Gompa or take a hike to nearby view points, offering breathtaking views of the Langtang peaks. This acclimatization day is crucial for adapting to the increasing altitude and reducing the risk of altitude-related illnesses.

Descending from Kyanjin Gompa, you retrace your steps back to Lama Hotel. The downhill trek provides a different perspective of the landscape, and you can enjoy the familiar sights with a newfound appreciation. Lama Hotel, situated along the Langtang Khola, welcomes you for a second stay as you continue your journey.

Leaving Lama Hotel, the trail ascends through dense forests and picturesque landscapes. The destination for the day is Thulo Syabru, a charming village at an altitude of 2,118 meters. The trek offers glimpses of local Tamang culture and their traditional way of life. Upon reaching Thulo Syabru, you can relax and soak in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

The trek continues towards Sing Gompa, also known as Chandanbari, situated at an altitude of 3,254 meters. Along the way, you pass through rhododendron and pine forests, with occasional clearings offering panoramic views of the Langtang range. Sing Gompa is a tranquil spot, and you'll have the opportunity to explore the local monasteries and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Today marks a significant part of your journey as you ascend to the sacred Gosainkunda Lake at an elevation of 4,380 meters. The trail takes you through rugged terrain and alpine landscapes. Upon reaching the holy lake, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and the pristine blue waters of Gosainkunda.

An adventurous day awaits as you cross the East Laurabinaya-La Pass at 4,640 meters. The pass offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas, and the descent takes you to Ghopte Odar at an altitude of 3,566 meters. The challenging trek is rewarded with diverse landscapes and a sense of accomplishment as you continue your journey.

Descending further, you trek towards Kutumsang, passing through rhododendron and fir forests. The trail provides glimpses of traditional villages and terraced fields. Kutumsang, at an altitude of 2,455 meters, offers a comfortable stop for the night, allowing you to rest and reflect on the experiences of the trek so far.

Continuing your descent, you head towards Chisapani, located at an altitude of 2,195 meters. The trail takes you through charming villages and lush landscapes. Chisapani, known for its panoramic sunrise and sunset views, provides a tranquil setting for the last leg of your trek. As you unwind, you can reflect on the incredible journey through the Langtang region.

On the final day of your trek, you descend to Sundarijal, a popular destination for nature enthusiasts. The trek concludes with a scenic drive back to Kathmandu, where you'll be transferred to your hotel. Take this opportunity to rest and celebrate the successful completion of the Langtang Gosainkunda Trek.

Today is a free day in Kathmandu, allowing you to explore the city at your own pace. You may choose to visit local markets, indulge in shopping for souvenirs, or simply relax and reminisce about the trek.
